Land Deed - Archibald and Mary F. Quarles to Benjamin Arnold

This indenture, made this 16th day of March in the year of our Lord 1842 between Archibald Quarles and Mary F. Quarles his wife of the County of Franklin & State of Kentucky of the first part and Benjamin Arnold of the County of Franklin & State aforesaid of the other part, witnesseth:

That the said Archibald Quarles and Mary F. Quarles his wife for and in consideration of the sum of eighty dollars in hand paid, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, have granted, bargained and sold, and by these presents doth grant, bargained and sell unto the said Benjamin Arnold, his heirs and assigns forever all that tract or parcel of land, situate and being in the County of Franklin & State aforesaid on Long Branch containing about fourteen acres more or less and bounded as follows, to wit, on the north by the land of Hugh Sanders, on the east by William G. Harvie, and on the west & south by the Long Branch.

Together with all and singular the appurtenances thereunto belonging, or in any wise appertaining:

To have and to hold the land hereby conveyed with the appurtenances, unto the said Benjn Arnold, his heirs and assigns forever.

And the said Archibald Quarles and Mary  F. Quarles, his wife, for themselves, their heirs, executor, and administrator, the aforesaid tract of land and appurtenances unto the said Benjamin Arnold, his heirs or assigns, against the claim or claims of all and any person or persons whatsoever doth and will forever warrant and defend by these presents.

In witness whereof the said Archibald Quarles & Mary F. Quarles his wife have hereunto set their hands and seals the day and date first above written.

Acknowledged in presence of
Franklin County

I, Alexander H. Rennick, Clerk of the County Court for the County aforesaid, do certify that the written deed from Archibald Quarles & his wife Mary F. Quarles to Benjamin Arnold was produced to me in my office on the 16th day of March 1842 by the grantors and was acknowledged by the said Archibald Quarles to be his act & deed.

And she the said Mary F. Quarles being examined by me privily & apart from her husband, deceased, that she did freely and willingly seal and deliver the said writing and wishes not to retract it and acknowledged the said writing again shown and explained to her to be her act & deed and consenteth that the same may be recorded.

Whereupon, the said deed together with the foregoing certificate is truly recorded in my office.

Witness my hand as Clerk as aforesaid this 31st day of March 1842.
