Continuing Your Research
Some advance planning is necessary for your research to continue after
your death or disablilty. Below are two suggested options for accomplishing
this.
Give your FTDNA kit number and password to a friend, relative or
fellow participant (presumably one with whom you match).
-
Give your FTDNA kit number and password to the study coordinators,
along with instructions that tell them whom to turn it over to. You
can use the contact page to do this.
Here are some important notes regarding both options:
-
You won't have your FTDNA kit number and password until after
you order your test kit in the next step.
-
No participant is required to follow either of these options. This
is strictly voluntary. The reason for listing them here is only to
guide those who are interested in seeing that their research continues
after their death or disability.
-
Important: Giving your FTDNA kit number and password to anyone
will give that person access to your FTDNA account, including the
personal information contained within. You should consider this fact
and set clear limitations with anyone with whom you share these items.
-
Consider designating ahead of time someone to let the study coordinators
know of your death or disability. This will allow the coordinators
to make the appropriate changes in a timely manner and, if necessary,
have new liability and release forms signed.
