Receiving and Using Test ResultsOnce Family Tree DNA has analyzed the sample, the participant will receive a certificate and report containing the test results. The staff of Family Tree DNA, or its testing lab at the University of Arizona, will be available to help you interpret the meaning of your test results. If the participant authorized it when the test kit was returned, their results will be compared with those of anyone who has submitted a test to Family Tree DNA (not just those involved in the Arnold study). If a match is made, each matching participant's contact information (e.g. an e-mail address) will be shared with the other so that they may get in touch. Similarly, if the participant authorized it when the test kit was returned, the study coordinator will also be notified that the test results are available. At that time, the study coordinator will retreive the results and they'll be published on the Arnold DNA Study website. If the participant requested it through the information release form for the Arnold DNA Study, their contact information and/or pedigree chart will also be published on the Arnold DNA Study website. While providing contact information and sharing test results is not required, study participants are highly encouraged to do so. After all, collaborating with others on our shared genealogy is the primary goal of this study.
